National Dog Day

Today is National Dog Day where we can celebrate our wonderful companions! They are loyal, helpful and love to play. A recent study shows that dogs are among a small group of animals who show voluntary unselfish kindness towards others without any reward. I'm sure that comes as no surprise to dog lovers.

Did you know that a dog’s nose print is unique, much like a person’s fingerprint? Also did you know that if you Google the word "Dog", you can click (or tap if you're on mobile) the purple paw print and see a cute surprise.

If you don't have a dog at home or can't have one, you could volunteer at the Animal Services (915-212-7297) or the Humane Society (915-532-6971). If you want to read to your dog, we have these cute books pictured above that I'm sure they'd love to read with you! Don't forget to take them for a walk later and tell them that they're the best.

You can help brighten our day and post a picture of your dog and tag us. Don't forget to use the hashtag #NationalDogDay
